Personal styling service offers a free shopping service at beaches department store
SHANNON Meddings is transforming northern beaches wardrobes from her small corner of the new Myer Warringah Mall.
The newly revamped store’s personal shopper might have worked her magic on The X Factor The Voice contestants and soap stars, but it’s real women – and men – of the peninsula she’s helping these days.
And she’s proving quite a hit.
“I had a customer who has never worn pants in her life because she didn’t believe they suited her. I choose a few styles for her and she was in shock and disbelief at how great she looked in her Marcs Phoebe trousers,” she said.
“I have had many customers telling me they will never shop without me.”
Ms Meddings, from Bondi, whose service is free, sends a questionnaire to clients before their appointment, and has dozens of outfits ready on the day.
And when #beachlife gave it a go, we weren’t disappointed.
She got us out of a work style rut by choosing stylish shorts and a cape, amped up a night out by getting us into a simple red frock we’d have dismissed, and also injected some style to weekend wear with a long skirt and an off-the-shoulder top.
And she said you don’t need to spend a lot.“The reason people come and see me is they are sick of wasting money on clothes that don’t work together,” she said.
“I am able to select pieces that will fit, will work with each other to create many outfits and are easy to wear.
“Fashion can be a maze with trends changing so often these days it’s hard to keep up.
“I show my clients what trends work for them and within the trends, how to build a wardrobe that is stylish and wearable.”
“Once I show people how to dress for their own body shape, colours and the trends and styles that suit them there is a major ‘a-ha’ moment. It’s always a great moment.”
